Myisha acknowledges Paul's incredible ability to be content while in jail and challenges us to pursue our own contentment with God.

Whatever Is...

Today's verse once convicted Jamin and ruined his night and everyone else's. He shares his story and encourages us to pay attention to the worldly things we participate in that don't blend well with Christianity.

Heavenward

We learned last week that it's faith alone that saves us, but this week we learn that people have different ways of working this theology into their lives. One of these ways is Christian while the other way makes us an enemy of the cross.

Salvation By Faith Alone

The Bible tells us that faith in Jesus alone can save us and that is it. But then the Bible also paints pictures that say how we live our lives matters to salvation as well. So which is it? Is it faith alone? If so, then what part does good works play in the conversation?

Myisha preaches on Philippians 2:12-18.

The Servant Songs

Paul calls Jesus a "servant," a powerful image to the people of his time both from a cultural perspective and from within the world of messianic expectation. Jamin takes us deeper into the humility of Jesus that Christians are to imitate and takes us deeper into Isaiah's 4-5 servant songs to show us the prophetic words Jesus was fulfilling in his servanthood.

Prison Letters

Philippians is one of Paul's four letters that he wrote from prison. In this particular letter, he is found celebrating the Kingdom work that is coming out of the imprisonment he's enduring. Jamin reminds us that the Spirit can call us into persecution and gives us the space to take joy in these moments.

Progressive Paul

Many of Paul's words often get used to demean women and other minorities, but Paul's instructions were quite progressive for his time—not regressive. It's important we take the whole Bible into account as well as the culture Paul was in to understand just how extraordinary his message was.

New Creation

When we accept Jesus we become a new creation that belongs with the new creation when the Kingdom of Heaven takes over the planet in Revelation. Jamin explains more as he makes his way through Colossians.

Philosophy or Deity?

There are all kinds of things in life that tell us they have all the answers, but Paul understood that Jesus was the answer—for the fullness of deity was found in him. Therefore, all of the things we learn should be submitted and tested against Him.

Put on Your Shoes

The cross reconciles all things and redeems us by submitting us to death to self and life in Christ. Myisha elaborates on this reconciliation and what it looks like for us.

Fully God, Fully Man

It is a common statement that "Jesus was fully God and fully man," but it seems people rarely address how that works out. How can Jesus be fully God and fully man? If we take a close look, we see that the Bible actually explains this conundrum a little more fully than we thought at first glance.

Why We Practice Peacemaking

Violence is accepted by most in some way, shape, or form, but Jamin searches the Scriptures to show us how Jesus refuses to endorse it and even goes so far as to disarm Christians. If we can embody this kind of radical peacemaking, then we'll be ready to make peace in all areas of our lives.

Why We Practice Community

Myisha talks about the importance of being a church community and not practicing Christianity on our own. There are many essential things that Christian community can offer us that individualism cannot.

Why We Empower People

Working off of Brian Fikkert and Steve Corbett’s book, When Helping Hurts, and his own experiences, Jamin explains the importance of empowering people. Poverty comes into our lives in many other ways and if we want to bring wholistic healing to each other, we must look beyond simple financial issues to find the deeper roots at play.
